Eric Emerick comes from a farm outside Columbia City, Indiana (near Fort Wayne, you might've heard of that one). As a kid, he always had many answers to the question: "What do you want to be when you grow up?" "A Firefighter" "A Museum Curator" "A Geo/Paleontologist" ...the list went on, and evolved over time. Eventually he grew up enough to branch out from his roots, and chose to study Agricultural & Biological Engineering at Purdue University.
But becoming an engineer wasn't quite it. His whole life he'd wanted to be so many things that it suddenly seemed overwhelmingly limited to settle down into one particular, neat & tidy profession. Something still wasn't quite right. Re-enter THEATER.
From acting the star in elementary school and Sunday school plays, to being the go-to lights and sound technician/behind-the-scenes wizard in high school, or even giving the rousing halftime speech in the state championship soccer match, Eric had been performing in one way or another for most of his life. Interestingly, if it wasn't for a decision to jump back into an acting class at a turning point in college, he might not've realized the life he wanted to lead had been right in front of him the whole time. The life of a creative isn't easy though. The son of an entrepreneur and younger brother of a farmer and a biomedical engineer, he knew a lot about hard work, but not much about being an artist. There was a lot to learn.
When Eric sets his mind to something, it happens. It was time to bet the farm.
In May 2017, Eric received a BA in Theatre Acting and Certificate in Entrepreneurship & Innovation from Purdue. in July 2017 he moved to New York City to study Meisner Technique in the two-year Professional Actor Training Program at the renowned Maggie Flanigan Studio. He completed his intensive studies in June of 2019.
He's built a life in the City as a transplant, sowing seeds every step of the way; while working as an actor, model, and voiceover he has also become a film producer, a sailing instructor on the Hudson River throughout the summers, a board member of the Purdue Alumni Club of NYC, and a carpenter building theatrical sets on and off Broadway.
